With the hiring of Rod Mayer in February of 2013 as President and CEO and with an additional $10 million of private placement equity obtained in July of 2013, Nextremity Solutions is in the process of moving its corporate offices to the Orthopedic Capital of the World. The corporate staff will number 15 people at the onset and will be the center of management, marketing, financial and sales functions for the company. Rod Mayer is no stranger to Warsaw having served in a number of orthopedic companies here, most recently as the CEO of DePalma Orthopedics.
The move to Warsaw, according to CFO Frank Patton was not only because it has the right address for the orthopedic industry but has the orthopedic talent pool needed to grow the Company. KEDCo is helping the Company make the right connections in the community to assist it in its success and growth in Kosciusko County. “We are excited to have another orthopedic company establish its headquarters in this County and the City of Warsaw” said George Robertson, KEDCo President.
Nextremity Solutions was started in 2008 by Lon Weiner, M.D. and Stuart Katchis, M.D. in Red Bank, New Jersey. The mission of the company is to turn orthopedic surgeons’ innovation ideas into marketable products. The company specializes in small joint problems such as its Nextra medical device to correct hammer toe. The company also has a line called Precision Ready Systems that includes precision screws and staples. The company contracts out manufacturing and its R&D function will remain in New Jersey.
