Rod K. Mayer
PRESIDENT & CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Rod has been in the orthopedic business since 1977. His history in the orthopaedic industry includes extensive experience in sales, distribution and business development with an intense passion to serve surgeons in addressing their unmet clinical and practice needs. In 2002, Rod founded DVO, a company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative orthopaedic products for the upper extremity market. Rod co-led the development, growth and eventual sale of DVO to Tornier, Inc. in March of 2007.
Dan began his career in public accounting serving public and private clients in manufacturing, orthopedic, internet startup, and financial service industries. He has been a high-powered contributor on International teams at both public and private orthopedic companies. Dan’s experience in controllership, treasury management, financial modeling, and lean process improvement has allowed him to be a driver of profitable growth throughout his career. He has participated in multiple M&A events in the orthopedic space and understands the orthopedic financial business model from design to patient.
Ryan D. Schlotterback
Ryan has spent 15+ years in the orthopedic industry, with experience in a variety of team and managerial roles within product development including lead engineer, project manager, and group manager. Ryan has commercialized and led teams of engineers to develop products in a variety of markets including hip, spine, extremity, and soft tissue fixation. Along with commercializing medical devices, Ryan has a track record of innovation including eight patents issued or currently in prosecution.
Director of Marketing & MTE
Mike has been involved in the health care field since 1985. While at DePuy Synthes, Mike was responsible for leading upstream and downstream marketing efforts to drive six products from concept through world-wide commercialization. During this time, Mike led several branding initiatives and KOL development that led the company to dominant market positions. Mike has six design and methods patents related to shoulder arthroplasty. Mike also has extensive experience in health care compliance and professional relations.
Director of Digital Content & Communications
Dave Temple has spent the past 20 plus years working in marketing, advertising and branding for everything from large corporations, International non-profits and small agencies. The first 10 years of his career were spent with DePuy as a branding expert with a focus on eMarketing to both surgeon and consumer markets. Dave is also an expert in social media and has traveled to Israel for Tel Aviv University, Normandy France as a featured speaker on social media, as well as multiple speaking opportunities on the use of social media in business.
Cathy has over 30 years of experience as an Administrative/Executive Assistant, along with many years of experience in Marketing, Sales Administration and Customer Service in Retail, Banking, Manufacturing and Orthopedic industries. She currently serves as the Office Administrator and as Executive Assistant to Rod Mayer, President & CEO of Nextremity Solutions.
Associate Director, Product Development
Adam has been in the orthopedic industry for 11+ years. For the last 3 years, Adam has gained vast amounts of experience across all orthopedic disciplines in roles of developing custom implants and pushing company wide innovation. Adam worked closely with surgeons from around the globe to create implant solutions for over 1900 patients. Adam has 16 patents either granted or in prosecution.
Associate Director, Product Development
Greg has 16+ years of engineering and project management experience, mostly focused in sports medicine. He is named on 79 patents issued or currently in prosecution primarily pertaining to soft tissue solutions in the knee, shoulder, hip, and small joints. Having commercialized a wide range of implants and disposable instruments, Greg has extensive experience developing concepts into market relevant products.
Senior Design Engineer
Joe has been in the Orthopedic industry for 11+ years with over 15 years of design and manufacturing experience. Joe had previously worked in product development in the Sports Medicine group at ZimmerBiomet. Joe supported the launch of various new products within ZimmerBiomet from beginning to end and has 1 patent in prosecution. Joe is determined to meet unmet patient, surgeon and customer needs.
John is a Registered Professional Engineer and holds a MS in Biomedical Engineering. He has been included in multiple publications, and is additionally named on 55 issued patents. John was also the Chief designer of the Smith & Nephew Trigen Nail System. He has experience in a test lab environment additionally has veterinary surgical experience. John manages the in house machine shop for Nextremity Solutions.
Engineer, Product Development
Thomas Holton serves on the engineering team at Nextremity Solutions. He comes from 2+ years of orthopedic experience at Zimmer Biomet. As a development engineer, he remediated implant and instrument design controls for two separate efforts. He also supported new product development within the knee division. Before orthopedics, Thomas worked in a research and development firm testing concepts for the DOD and assembling a medical device for FDA clearance.
Director of Operations
Shane has been in the orthopedic business since 1980. His history in orthopedics includes extensive experience in R & D, Material Testing and Quality. Shane’s Quality experience includes DFMEA, PFMEA, CAPA, Audits, Inspection Criteria and managing associates. Shane spent 29 years working for Zimmer, in which 20 of those years were spent in the R&D Quality Lab. He also spent 9 of those years as a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer. Shane has also worked as a Quality Manager for Greatbatch Medical.
Director of Quality & Regulatory
Chris Cook has worked for 13+ years in Orthopaedics in the field of quality engineering. 10 years of his career were spent with DePuy Synthes with an additional 3.5 years in contract manufacturing with an orthopedic focus. Chris’s has lead worldwide project teams in new product development, supplier quality, as well as operations quality. Chris has a B.S. from Purdue Fort Wayne in Industrial Engineering Technology and an M.S. from Indiana Wesleyan in Strategic Management. Chris’s strong focus in the area of quality is a tremendous asset to Nextremity Solutions’ i3 Strategic Solutions product development strategy.
Elise Fox comes to Nextremity Solutions after working as a Quality Systems Engineer for Medtronic. Her background includes document control, training, quality systems improvement, external audit support, and CAPA, with a focus on data analysis, software validation, and supporting OUS Regulatory Requests. Elise has also worked for Siemens Medical Solutions as a Software Test Engineer performing verification and validation of Molecular Imaging software. Elise has a clinical educational background with a bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
Marketing & Research Coordinator
Tad comes to Nextremity with 5 years of educational experience. As the manager of i3 Direct, Tad will focus on one-on-one, as well as group education of surgeons and sales representatives regarding all products that are developed and manufactured by Nextremity Solutions via i3 Strategic Solutions. Tad will lead the development and implementation of interactive platforms to help drive product awareness, adoption, and market success with the surgeons and sales representatives of Nextremity Solutions and those of our industry partners.
Cheri has been in the Orthopedic industry in Warsaw for 7 years with positions in Finance and Medical Education. She has extensive experience working with Orthopedic surgeons in Sports Medicine, Extremities, Hip and Knee during her time in Medical Education at Zimmer and Zimmer Biomet. She has 14+ years of accounting and finance experience in small business, non-profit and manufacturing. Cheri is proud to have an MBA in business from the Lake Forest Graduate School of Management in Lake Forest, Illinois.
Jenny joined the Nextremity Solutions, Inc. team in August 2013. Prior to joining the team, Jenny worked at PNC Bank as a part time teller and previously managed the teller line. Jenny has also spent time working on her family dairy farm, as well as working in the Accounts Receivable department of her family repair shop.
